Not normally so long as the transition from host to host is seamless. There are situations where it can affect you if the site is down when the site is being checked out my a search engine spider. In some cases it worth changing if your on a virtual host that happens to have lots of other site with similar content to your own as your sharing the ip address also of the other sites.

But at the end of the day there are lots of other factors that will help you gain or lose you ranking such as page rank, site content or lack of it, the keywords used in your site content as apposed to your competitors, lot of scripts on your sites pages and also many times even the way the sites put together. Low search ranking are affected by all of these factors and many more. I usually find that the SEO of a site ends up consuming more of my time that the planning and contruction of a website and that its a never ending process to keep good ranking happening. I have a good guide thats cheap to buy and will help you market your sit effectively listed on my website if your keen to learn more.
