How do I change the website symbol on my website?

You know the little symbol up on the tab of the webpage that you are at? Like for example yahoo answer's is like a green thought bubble with a white star inside of it. You should know what I am talking about. Anyway I need help on how to change it from the stupid internet symbol to a one that I like. Thanks in advanced,

~Jake~How do I change the website symbol on my website?when you have learned how to create your own favicon, you will need to add a line to your source code like so

%26lt;link rel=%26quot;SHORTCUT ICON%26quot; href=%26quot;pix/favicon.ico%26quot;%26gt;

this goes in the %26lt;head%26gt; section of your web page and assumes the image is called favicon.ico and is stored in a folder on your website called pix

upload the .ico file and your revised HTML file, clear out the cache on MSIE and browse to that page, and (hopefully) there ya go!

Jake - the favicon can only be changed on websites that YOU own or edit. If you have a favourite website (made by somebody else) with no favicon, or one that annoys you, the only thing you can do is email the webmaster and suggest an alternative.

As I look after several websites for friends, I have full access to their web space and can upload or edit whatever I want.

So, if you have a working website - please tell us the URL and we will go on from there. If not, then sorry pal!

I made and uploaded a favicon onto the web page below in about 5 minutes, using PSP5 and the favicon generator at html-kit.com
