What is a good website to make websites?

a need to make a business website - different items changing everyday and perhaps even a login in for customers - but not a must. i just need something to sell indian jewelry that needs to be updated frequently - or would i be better off paying someone to do it?(not really in my budget) i can spend up to $25 or $30 a month... any suggestions? What is a good website to make websites?Web sites do NOT make web sites, people do. Use a good web editor locally and make your site first on your computer in its own folder. This will allow you to have a backup at least. Get yourself a good graphics editor. Many are free so Photoshop is NOT required.

A good hosting site will allow use of FTP to upload/download your files quick for fast management/updating of pages. Even a good FTP program is free.

I do recommend paying for hosting, but read the packages offered carefully with what you want to do in mind. You may need more bandwidth and storage space than you think. A good hosting service will provide you with a darn good Control Panel from which you can manage your entire site. The CP will have programs ready to be installed for you if you wish: eCommerce, Photo Gallery, PayPal and much, much more.

What is a good website to make websites?
freewebs.com, really simple and easy
I think maybe SquareSpace lets you do this.
Website hosting will cost about $5/month (when you start to need more room or more bandwidth you'll be able to increase your website budget due to the amount of business you're doing). A domain name costs between $10 and $20 a year. All well within your budget.

Making the site? You can learn (it might take time, but there are free tutorials all over the web), or you can pay someone (in money or in jewelry - some people will barter) to make the site for you - and in a way that you can update things yourself.
You should try this site called webstarts: http://webstarts.com/?aff=Trent

It's really easy to use and free.

- free web hosting

- free website builder (the simplest way to make a website, looks professional too)

- a WebStarts web address (which will be www.webstarts.com/yoursitename)

The website builder is really user friendly. It basically like...click here to ad image/video/whatever, it appears on your site, then drag and drop, resize etc.

If you want to see an example of a site using WebStarts, http://www.orangepants.net is a good one.

You can always upgrade later on if you want more features, costs like $4/month. You get a domain name (www.yoursitename.com) and a lot more storage and other stuff, but there heaps you can do with the free account. Check it out.
truthfully, with a website that you are going to sell stuff, you need to learn to edit it yourself. otherwise you will need to pay someone to change it probably every day and that gets expensive. I would suggest to learn with a free site, then go from there.
